Three Reasons To Install New Custom Cabinetry

Ccustom cabinetry floridaustom cabinetry isn’t an aspect of home remodeling that most homeowners think of as an essential feature — until there isn’t enough space in the house for storage and organization! Here are three ways that a custom cabinet installment can be incorporated into some of the most-used rooms in any house; you might just realize that before your next remodeling project, you should call up your local custom cabinetry Floridan service and see how you can benefit from this addition.

Bathroom remodeling projects: Bathroom features are some of the biggest factors in a home’s value; when it comes time to sell your house, having modern and functional features is a major selling point. Many people try to install custom cabinets in their bathrooms on their own time, but it’s important to realize that unlike other rooms in your house, there are many water pipelines running through the walls — and it’s surprisingly easy to overlook them with a major project, so calling up a local custom cabinetry Floridan service to take care of the work will definitely give you some peace of mind.

Kitchen remodeling projects: Kitchens are another area that really matters in a home’s overall value, and things like kitchen cabinetry and countertops can be tricky — you want these features to be aesthetically appealing, especially because your kitchen is one of the busiest rooms in your house, but functionality is important as well. There’s nothing more frustrating than seeing how much storage room a kitchen could have — if custom-fitted cabinets had been installed.

Living room remodeling projects: From entertainment cabinetry to home library cabinets, there are plenty of reasons why your living room or study could use some extra storage space. Even if you feel attached to the cozy aesthetic of older cabinetry units, modern cabinets are best for storing items like books, electronics, and old home videos. Newer cabinets are made with high-quality materials that can withstand extreme temperatures and protect your items from water damage, sun damage, and being swallowed up in the back of the cabinet itself.

Regardless of the room you’re working on, regardless of your budget, regardless of your personal style — you can definitely find a custom cabinetry installation that fits your needs. You might just be surprised by what your local custom cabinetry Floridan service can install in your home!

Planning Your Kitchen To Suit Your Style

It’s a pleasure to contribute to Cary’s blog.

He is a gem of a kitchen designer, knowing his way around drawers, doors and islands very well.

Function is our second lesson, piece of pie, in kitchen planning. You may think a kitchen is a kitchen but there are really many ways these important rooms are used.  We might want to see which fits best with our own personal style and function.
•    professional
•    working
•    family friendly
•    entertaining
•    glamorous (glam)/show

There might be some combinations of the above, for instance a working,  family friendly kitchen is good. But a glam kitchen would not combine with a working kitchen. If you love to make a mess, it would be tough to keep the immaculate look you so love.

A glam kitchen (fig 3) might work with entertaining if you cater your parties or know how to have everything done in advance so your pristine kitchen stays pristine.

If baking is your forte you will need to consider the right surfaces to get the best results. (Marble is considered the best for baking.) If you cater you will need very large surfaces and a large refrigerator or two.

How many are being cared for under your roof? Children are an important design factor. Would you like to keep an eye on them while you are preparing dinner? (fig 4) Islands are perfect tools to keep guests involved while you take care of last minute dinner preparations.

Consider the function of your kitchen early in the design process. You wouldn’t want to source materials for a glam kitchen and then find your husband loves to cook.  Perhaps other things have changed, a new career or family and friends are visiting often.

There you have your second slice of the kitchen design pie! Analyze your life-style. Your preferences. Your goals. What functions does your kitchen have to perform to accomplish these goals? Allow your kitchen to reflect the ideals of those living there!

5 Tips For Remodeling Your Bath

Updating a bath is one of the best ways to boost your home’s resale value, and make it more practical and livable for you.

Whether big or small, bathrooms should always be beautiful, well thought out and function with multiple users in mind.  Here are some tips for re-designing your bathroom for the long haul … or for the new home buyer just about to tour your home.

1)  Make sure your bathroom has a window!
No one likes a dark, damp bathroom with bad circulation. If you’re building or relocating a bathroom, try to site it on an outside wall with windows. If windows are not an option, install a skylight that can allow for fresh air and natural light.

2)  Imagine  sitting in the living room with a glass of wine and looking straight into the bathroom!
Always avoid locating the bathroom directly off the kitchen, living room or dining room. Just create some formal separation to break up the line of sight.

3)  Then there’s the toilet …
Try to avoid making it the first thing you see in the bathroom. If you can, have  the toilet and shower in their own room while keeping the sink separate. This allows someone to take a shower while someone else gets ready at the sink.

4)  Consider a curbless shower.  The subtle touch.
Most showers have  a 6-inch step at the entrance. If you’re looking to create a streamlined bathroom, that curb will stand out.  A curbless shower makes a bathroom feel bigger and is  very practical for aging-in-place homeowners. This look is fairly easy to achieve in a new bathroom or a remodel — just make sure you mention it to your architect or contractor.

Designers Choice

5)  Remember  the importance of storage.
Bathrooms have become a major storage area with pantries for storing towels and other bath products. Bathrooms have become similar to kitchens with full height doors to drawers over doors. Men on one side and women on the other and being able to address the needs of both.
